The Role
As our Sales Engineer, you will combine your technical engineering expertise with commercial acumen to support our growing client base. You will be responsible for preparing accurate quotations, carrying out site surveys, and providing tailored solutions across our fire and security systems portfolio.
Working within the quotations team, you will ensure technical accuracy and support the delivery of competitive and compliant proposals. You will also liaise directly with customers, advising them on suitable solutions and ensuring a smooth transition from quotation through to installation and ongoing service.
This role is well-suited to an experienced Fire and Security Engineer looking to step into a sales position while retaining a strong technical focus.
The Responsibilities
As our Sales Engineer, you’ll be responsible for:
- Carrying out site surveys for fire and security systems (fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, access control)
- Preparing accurate and competitive quotations, ensuring technical compliance and value for money
- Supporting the department, reviewing work to ensure accuracy and quality
- Liaising with customers to understand requirements and propose tailored solutions
- Providing technical expertise and advice to both clients and internal teams
- Building and maintaining strong, long-term client relationships
The Person
The ideal person for this role will be:
- An experienced Fire and Security Engineer with strong technical knowledge
- Interested in developing their career into sales, quotations, and team leadership
- A confident communicator, able to liaise with Engineers, clients, and internal teams
- Organised, accurate, and commercially aware
- Motivated to deliver high-quality solutions and achieve sales growth
The Essential Criteria
- Previous hands-on engineering experience in fire and security systems (installation, service, or maintenance)
- Strong technical knowledge of fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Good IT skills, including report writing and quotation systems
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable Experience
- Experience with Warden Call systems
- Formal training or certification in Fire & Security systems (e.g., FIA)
- IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification
The Hours
- Working hours are 8am-16.30pm Monday – Friday standard with overtime expected to be carried out where applicable due to the nature of the role.
- Office based role with site visits required where applicable.
