The Role
The role of a Commercial Gas Engineer is to respond to & repair all gas heating and plumbing equipment to care homes, NHS buildings, universities, local councils, sheltered housing, commercial shops, and many other property types throughout the North East.
The Responsibilities
As our Commercial Gas Engineer, you’ll be responsible for:
- Diagnostic fault finding to boilers, water heaters, warm air, etc.
- Completing maintenance & PPM certification paperwork on a PDA.
- Efficiently maintaining and repairing gas plant equipment, plumbing, heating systems and components.
- Identifying areas for additional works in and out of the specified contractual requirements, supplying accurate quotations where required for any additional works.
- Understanding and completing all work-related documentation accurately, on time, exceeding the customer’s expectations.
- Complying with company policies and procedures.
- Carrying out work in a safe and diligent manner.
- Working alongside the current team of Engineers.
- Complying with all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Attending and fully participating in training and appraisal activities, as required.
- Liaising with office staff via phone calls, emails, and use of the PDA system.
- Reporting to the Regional Manager.
The Person
The ideal person who’ll thrive in this role:
- Good general experience working in care homes or public sector environments is preferable.
- Ability to communicate at all levels.
- Generally, IT literate.
- Clear oral and written communication.
- Have a customer focused approach.
- Have ambition, drive and enthusiasm.
- Plumbing, AC, commercial plant fault finding experience preferable.
- Good general knowledge of electrics is preferable.
- A good understanding of Health & Safety procedures.
The Training
Full training will be provided.
The Essential Criteria
- Gas Safe.
- CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Enhanced DBS clearance.
The Hours
- 08:00am -16.30pm 5days per week 40 hours.
- 1.5 rate door to door.
- Overtime rate paid after 40 hours.
- Double time paid for call outs between 12am & 5am, and Sundays.
- Call out rota, 1 day in every 6.
